In this blog; we aim at looking for new ways and strategies to get our learners engaged and motivated.
Teaching learners a foreign language is like teaching a baby how to walk, we need to motivate them and be patient.
To reach this, we,as teachers, have to create new games that are both amusing and beneficial.
Teaching sentence structures can be hyper exciting using this caterpillar game. I chose the negative form to design my caterpillars but the teacher can use the same game to teach other sentence forms as well.
Each lesson should be divided into different parts , we have to start with a lead in, an ice breaker or a warmer just to prepare learners for the coming structure.
In this lesson, we can start with a warmer like a riddle, a hangman game, scrambled words or any other games that may help learners to guess the word caterpillar.
As a task, the teacher sticks the heads of the caterpillars on the board.
Then he sticks the rest of the parts in disorder.
Pupils have to pass to the board to match the parts to complete the caterpillars.
To make it easy, each sentence has the same color.
After we finish, learners analyse and get out with the rule of how to form the negative in English.
